In partnership with OC Parks, Laguna Canyon Foundation staff and volunteers lead hikes, bike rides, and programs throughout Laguna Coast, Aliso and Wood Canyons, and Laguna Niguel parks. From health and fitness hikes and rides to family programs and naturalist-led interpretive hikes, we offer something for everyone!
HEALTH AND FITNESS The South Coast Wilderness is a perfect place to exercise your mind and body. Our fitness hikes and bike rides range from easy to moderate on flat to elevated trails. If you are looking to center yourself, come out for a Yoga program.
FAMILY PROGRAMS IN THE PARK Our family hikes are especially designed for people of all ages to enjoy and connect with nature and each other. We have a wide range of programs for new parents looking to bring a child out to their first outing, tots interacting with the wilderness and entire families hiking together.
INTREPRETIVE HIKES There is a wide world of ecology, biology, geology and more that you can learn about while hiking in the wilderness. Join certified Naturalists as they lead you to discover what makes the South Coast Wilderness so special.

Trail Stewardship Day – Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park
May 18 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
If you use the wilderness parks for hiking, biking, photography or just relaxing, Trail Stewardship might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trail you use; you’ll see the trails in a whole new way. No experience necessary. This is FUN, dirty, hard work. Whatever your skill level is, there is a job to do: clearing and improving drains; trimming back brush; spreading native seed; naturalizing impacted areas and caching dirt. We will be using provided tools such as loppers, picks, shovels, and McLeods.Hiking is part of the experience and depending on the trail work can be 3 – 4 miles.
Our design goals are to keep users ON the trail and get water OFF the trail to reduce impacts to our precious wilderness parks. Ages 16 and up with parent permission (a form is required to be signed by a parent or guardian prior to starting the hike and can be downloaded here: www.lagunacanyon.org/waiver). Snacks will be served and parking passes will be available. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and sun protection. Bring at least 2 liters of water.
Eligibility: 18 years of age or older. 17 years of age with signed waiver from parents. Volunteers aged 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Children under the age of 16 are not eligible for this event.
