DESCRIPTION:Do you dig plants? If so\, join Laguna Canyon Foundation for a morning of creating healthier habitats at the 18-acre Berns Canyon Preserve! LCF volunteers and staff will work together on various stewardship activities\, including hand-weeding non-native plants\, hand watering\, seed collection\, and planting. SUMMARY:Trail Stewardship - Car Wreck
DESCRIPTION:If you use the Wilderness Parks for hiking\, biking\, photography or just relaxing\, Trail Work might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trails you use; you’ll see them in a whole new way. No experience necessary. This is FUN hard work. Whatever your skill level is\, there is a job to do: clearing drains to get the water off the trail\, pruning vegetation back to keep users on the trail\, moving dirt to rebuild eroded tread\, and restoring impacted areas are just some of the tasks we will accomplish. We will be using tools such as loppers\, picks\, shovels\, and McLeod’s to improve the user experience\, protect the fragile habitat and increase the sustainability of our trails. Expect to hike up to 4 miles while carrying tools.   \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Hollyleaf cul-de-sac\, Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. (Where West Ridge Trail meets Hollyleaf\, near 65 Hollyleaf\, Aliso Viejo\, CA 92656)  \n\n\n\nParking: Free street parking available in the neighborhood. SUMMARY:Fitness Hike - Car Wreck at Canyon View
DESCRIPTION:Please be aware that this is a Fitness Hike and not for beginners; the pace is approximately a 19-minute mile. Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers to raise your heart rate and your spirits on this strenuous\, fast-paced\, 8.25-mile hike over steep and uneven terrain with a 1\,200-ft. elevation gain. There is some rock scrambling involved in this hike. We will hike 2.5 miles on the relatively flat Wood Canyon trail\, climb Car Wreck trail to the top\, descend Mathis Canyon trail to Coyote Run trail\, then return on Wood Creek trail to the staging area.  \n\n\n\nPlease plan to arrive 10 minutes early. This group leaves promptly at 8:30 a.m.  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Canyon View Staging Area\, Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. From Pacific Park/Canyon Vistas intersection\, go northwest on Canyon Vistas. We will meet on the paved sidewalk easement leading toward Wood Canyon Trail.  \n\n\n\nParking: Free neighborhood parking. Park legally (note street signs) on or near Canyon Vistas\, preferably between Coastal Oak and Madia (22144 region of Canyon Vistas). DESCRIPTION:If you use the Wilderness Parks for hiking\, biking\, photography or just relaxing\, Trail Work might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trails you use; you’ll see them in a whole new way. No experience necessary. This is FUN hard work. Whatever your skill level is\, there is a job to do: clearing drains to get the water off the trail\, pruning vegetation back to keep users on the trail\, moving dirt to rebuild eroded tread\, and restoring impacted areas are just some of the tasks we will accomplish. We will be using tools such as loppers\, picks\, shovels\, and McLeod’s to improve the user experience\, protect the fragile habitat and increase the sustainability of our trails. Expect to hike up to 4 miles while carrying tools.   \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. This beginner class is perfect for those interested in exploring watercolor landscapes using watercolor-colored pencils. We will learn how to sketch and layer color with pencils\, then activate the pigment with water to create soft\, painterly effects. We’ll cover basic techniques like shading\, blending\, and creating texture\, all while working on a simple\, scenic landscape. From Pacific Park/Canyon Vistas intersection\, go northwest on Canyon Vistas. We will meet on the paved sidewalk easement leading toward Wood Canyon Trail.  \n\n\n\nParking: Free neighborhood parking. SUMMARY:Trail Stewardship - Camarillo Canyon
DESCRIPTION:If you use the Wilderness Parks for hiking\, biking\, photography or just relaxing\, Trail Work might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trails you use; you’ll see them in a whole new way. No experience necessary. This is FUN hard work. Whatever your skill level is\, there is a job to do: clearing drains to get the water off the trail\, pruning vegetation back to keep users on the trail\, moving dirt to rebuild eroded tread\, and restoring impacted areas are just some of the tasks we will accomplish. We will be using tools such as loppers\, picks\, shovels\, and McLeod’s to improve the user experience\, protect the fragile habitat and increase the sustainability of our trails. Expect to hike up to 4 miles while carrying tools.   \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Laguna Canyon Foundation Headquarters (10 Phillips St. Laguna Beach\, CA 92651\, East side of SR-133/Laguna Canyon Rd.)   \n\n\n\nParking: Free parking for trail stewardship volunteers at LCF Headquarters. DESCRIPTION: Join Laguna Canyon Foundation and OC Parks at one of our habitat restoration stewardship events in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park as we learn and work together to create a healthier habitat for the native plants and wildlife that call the canyon their home. Depending on the time of year\, volunteers will assist with various stewardship activities\, including removal of non-native plants\, seed collection\, and/or planting of native plants. No experience is necessary.  Come out and join the team to help restore the wild lands we all enjoy!  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. DESCRIPTION:Do you want to unplug and relax in nature?  Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers on a guided walk to experience the outdoors in a new way and allow your natural sense of wonder to take you to a mindful space outside.  \n\n\n\nWe will walk less than 1 mile on relatively flat terrain and take stops along the way to engage in playful activities and mindfulness exercises to deepen our connection with the natural environment and ourselves. Our walk will end with a tea ceremony focused on reciprocity\, a segue from the special\, quiet space we share on our walk\, back to the busy world.  \n\n\n\nDisclaimer: This program involves drinking tea. DESCRIPTION:Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer naturalists in partnership with OC Parks to enjoy an easy\, 2.5-mile Family Hike over moderate but uneven terrain (45-ft. elevation gain). Starting at the James Dilley Preserve\, we will hike one of the most diverse areas of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to Barbara’s Lake and back.   \n\n\n\nAge: 6 or older. DESCRIPTION:Explore Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park with OC Parks and Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers\, where you might see deer\, bobcats\, and hawks. Learn about acorn woodpeckers – the hippies of the bird world – and the wonderful ways of woodrats\, as well as the peculiar nature of certain plants. Enjoy wildlife sounds\, smells\, and sights on this moderately-paced 5-mile hike on rocky terrain with less than 500 feet in elevation gain.  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Canyon View Staging Area\, Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. From Pacific Park/Canyon Vistas intersection\, go northwest on Canyon Vistas. We will meet on the paved sidewalk easement leading toward Wood Canyon Trail.  \n\n\n\nParking: Free neighborhood parking. Park legally (note street signs) on or near Canyon Vistas\, preferably between Coastal Oak and Madia (22144 region of Canyon Vistas).
