DESCRIPTION:The OC Parks Jr. Ranger Program encourages park guests to explore the outdoor world within OC Parks by developing a sense of belonging\, becoming a part of nature and feeling empowered to be stewards of Orange County’s natural and cultural resources.   \n\n\n\nEarn yourself a Laguna Coast Wilderness Park Jr. Ranger Badge by completing this Jr. Ranger quest! We will be exploring the wildlife corridors at Laguna Canyon and figuring out if animals are using them and if so\, why.  \n\n\n\nAge: Designed for 8 to 12 years of age\, but all are welcome to participate. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.    \n\n\n\nLocation: Nix Nature Center\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (18751 Laguna Canyon Road\, Laguna Beach 92651\, East side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133).   \n\n\n\nParking: $3/car at Nix Nature Center parking lot. Parking is limited; carpooling is encouraged.   \n\n\n\nDifficulty Rating: 1/5    \n\n\n\nMaterials: Participants must bring plenty of water\, closed-toed shoes\, and sun protection.   \n\n\n\nSafety precautions and protocols:    \n\n\n\n\nAdvanced registration  required. Every individual\, including children\, must be registered.   \n\n\n\nGroup sizes are minimized for safety purposes. DESCRIPTION:Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer naturalists in partnership with OC Parks to enjoy an easy\, 2.5-mile Family Hike over moderate but uneven terrain (45-ft. elevation gain). Starting at the James Dilley Preserve\, we will hike one of the most diverse areas of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to Barbara’s Lake and back.   \n\n\n\nAge: 6 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: James Dilley Preserve\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (I-5 or 405 south to 133 south to stoplight at 73 toll road; and make a U-turn\, go 1 block. Dilley is on the right.) \n\n\n\nParking: $3/car at James Dilley Preserve parking lot. Parking is limited; carpooling is encouraged.  \n\n\n\nDifficulty Rating: 2/5   \n\n\n\nMaterials: Participants must bring plenty of water\, closed-toed shoes\, and sun protection. We will be learning about what makes an animal invasive and watching the behavior of Mason’s turtles.    \n\n\n\nAge: Designed for 8 to 12 years of age\, but all are welcome to participate. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  \n\n\n\nLocation: Mason Regional Park at 18712 University Drive\, Irvine (Exit I-405 at Culver Drive south\, turn right (west/south) on University Drive\, left at San Joaquin/park entrance – park in Parking Lot C and we will meet by the restrooms.  \n\n\n\nParking: $5/car at Mason Regional Park parking lot. DESCRIPTION:Enter a world of creativity by making nature themed crafts and artwork with your little ones. We’ll exclusively use Earth friendly materials that have either been found in nature\, reused from regular daily products\, or have been responsibly sourced. Sycamore trees will provide shade and ambiance over the picnic tables on beautiful weather days and the visitor center will give shelter if it’s chilly or toasty outdoors. Fear not\, an enjoyable new project will be planned for each event!   \n\n\n\nAge: This program is intended for ages 4-10. SUMMARY:Nature Meditation Walk
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to unplug and relax in nature?  Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers on a guided walk to experience the outdoors in a new way and allow your natural sense of wonder to take you to a mindful space outside.  \n\n\n\nWe will walk less than 1 mile on relatively flat terrain and take stops along the way to engage in playful activities and mindfulness exercises to deepen our connection with the natural environment and ourselves. Our walk will end with a tea ceremony focused on reciprocity\, a segue from the special\, quiet space we share on our walk\, back to the busy world.  \n\n\n\nDisclaimer: This program involves drinking tea. If you have food allergies or sensitivities\, please be sure to notify the program leader upon arrival.  \n\n\n\nAge: 10 or older. DESCRIPTION:Join OC Parks naturalists for story time and a short hike with your little ones (ages 3 to 6) as we explore oak trees! \n\n\n\nAge: 3-6 year-olds. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: James Dilley Preserve\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (I-5 or 405 south to 133 south to stoplight at 73 toll road; and make a U-turn\, go 1 block. Dilley is on the right.).  \n\n\n\nParking: $3/car at James Dilley Preserve parking lot. Parking is limited\, carpooling is encouraged.  \n\n\n\nDifficulty Rating: 1/5    \n\n\n\nMaterials: Participants must bring plenty of water\, closed-toed shoes\, and sun protection.   \n\n\n\nSafety precautions and protocols:    \n\n\n\n\nAdvanced registration required. Every individual\, including children\, must be registered. \n\n\n\nGroup sizes are minimized for safety purposes. This program is designed to introduce the basics of birding in a friendly and accessible way while hiking along a 3-mile path with 50-foot elevation gain on uneven terrain. While the focus is on beginners\, birders of all experience levels are welcome.
