SUMMARY:Nature Meditation Walk
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to unplug and relax in nature?  Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers on a guided walk to experience the outdoors in a new way and allow your natural sense of wonder to take you to a mindful space outside.  \n\n\n\nWe will walk less than 1 mile on relatively flat terrain and take stops along the way to engage in playful activities and mindfulness exercises to deepen our connection with the natural environment and ourselves. Our walk will end with a tea ceremony focused on reciprocity\, a segue from the special\, quiet space we share on our walk\, back to the busy world.  \n\n\n\nDisclaimer: This program involves drinking tea. If you have food allergies or sensitivities\, please be sure to notify the program leader upon arrival.  \n\n\n\nAge: 10 or older. DESCRIPTION:Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer naturalists in partnership with OC Parks to enjoy an easy\, 2.5-mile Family Hike over moderate but uneven terrain (45-ft. elevation gain). Starting at the James Dilley Preserve\, we will hike one of the most diverse areas of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to Barbara’s Lake and back.   \n\n\n\nAge: 6 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: James Dilley Preserve\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (I-5 or 405 south to 133 south to stoplight at 73 toll road; and make a U-turn\, go 1 block. Learn about acorn woodpeckers – the hippies of the bird world – and the wonderful ways of woodrats\, as well as the peculiar nature of certain plants. Enjoy wildlife sounds\, smells\, and sights on this moderately-paced 5-mile hike on rocky terrain with less than 500 feet in elevation gain.  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Canyon View Staging Area\, Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. From Pacific Park/Canyon Vistas intersection\, go northwest on Canyon Vistas. We will meet on the paved sidewalk easement leading toward Wood Canyon Trail.  \n\n\n\nParking: Free neighborhood parking. Park legally (note street signs) on or near Canyon Vistas\, preferably between Coastal Oak and Madia (22144 region of Canyon Vistas). DESCRIPTION:Please be aware that this is a Fitness Hike and not for beginners; the pace is approximately a 19-minute mile. Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers to raise your heart rate and your spirits on this strenuous\, fast-paced\, 8.25-mile hike over steep and uneven terrain with a 1\,200-ft. elevation gain. There is some rock scrambling involved in this hike. We will hike 2.5 miles on the relatively flat Wood Canyon trail\, climb Car Wreck trail to the top\, descend Mathis Canyon trail to Coyote Run trail\, then return on Wood Creek trail to the staging area.  \n\n\n\nPlease plan to arrive 10 minutes early. This group leaves promptly at 8:30 a.m.  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Canyon View Staging Area\, Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. From Pacific Park/Canyon Vistas intersection\, go northwest on Canyon Vistas. Your hard work will be rewarded with sweeping views of the park!  \n\n\n\nPlease plan to arrive 10 minutes early. This group leaves promptly at 8:00 a.m.  \n\n\n\nAge: 16 or older.
