DESCRIPTION:Spot local native and seasonal resident birds with Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer naturalists on this slow and easy 2-mile hike over moderate but uneven terrain with up to 50 feet in elevation gain. We will go to Barbara’s Lake and back through one of the most diverse plant communities in the United States. No experience necessary!  \n\n\n\nAge: 12 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Nix Nature Center\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (18751 Laguna Canyon Road\, Laguna Beach 92651\, East side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133).  \n\n\n\nParking: $3/car at Nix Nature Center parking lot. Parking is limited; carpooling is encouraged.  \n\n\n\nDifficulty Rating: 2/5   \n\n\n\nMaterials: Participants must bring plenty of water\, closed-toed shoes\, and sun protection. Binoculars are recommended.  \n\n\n\nSafety precautions and protocols:  \n\n\n\n\nAdvanced registration required. Every individual\, including children\, must be registered. \n\n\n\n\n\nGroup sizes are minimized for safety purposes. We’ll exclusively use Earth friendly materials that have either been found in nature\, reused from regular daily products\, or have been responsibly sourced. DESCRIPTION:Do you want to unplug and relax in nature?  Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers on a guided walk to experience the outdoors in a new way and allow your natural sense of wonder to take you to a mindful space outside.  \n\n\n\nWe will walk less than 1 mile on relatively flat terrain and take stops along the way to engage in playful activities and mindfulness exercises to deepen our connection with the natural environment and ourselves. Our walk will end with a tea ceremony focused on reciprocity\, a segue from the special\, quiet space we share on our walk\, back to the busy world.  \n\n\n\nDisclaimer: This program involves drinking tea. If you have food allergies or sensitivities\, please be sure to notify the program leader upon arrival.  \n\n\n\nAge: 10 or older. DESCRIPTION:Come join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer naturalists in partnership with OC Parks Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Naturalists to explore the beauty and diversity of Little Sycamore Canyon Trail\, Serrano Ridge\, Camarillo Canyon\, and Stagecoach South Trail in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. This will be a moderately paced\, 4.8-mile hike over some steep and uneven terrain with approximately 1\,150 feet of elevation gain. The hike is an opportunity to experience the variety of terrain through Sycamore and Oak Woodlands\, Coastal Sage Scrub\, and along ridges with beautiful vistas.  \n\n\n\nAge: 14 or older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Nix Nature Center\, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (18751 Laguna Canyon Road\, Laguna Beach 92651\, East side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133).  \n\n\n\nParking: $3/car at Nix Nature Center parking lot. SUMMARY:Birds of a Feather: Beginners Birding
DESCRIPTION:Join Laguna Canyon Foundation and OC Parks Volunteer Naturalists for a relaxed birding walk along Aliso Creek. This program is designed to introduce the basics of birding in a friendly and accessible way while hiking along a 3-mile path with 50-foot elevation gain on uneven terrain. While the focus is on beginners\, birders of all experience levels are welcome. Come enjoy the sights and sounds of the morning as we explore the natural beauty along the creek!  \n\n\n\nAge: 7 or older. Along the way\, we’ll share tips for exploring and stewarding the land responsibly. Perfect for first-time visitors\, new volunteers\, or anyone who wants to feel more at home in the coastal canyons.  \n\n\n\nThis moderate difficulty hike is approximately 5 miles long and has 800 feet of elevation gain\, and includes views of the beautiful rock formations in the Canyon\, the expanse of the South Coast Wilderness\, and surrounding features.  \n\n\n\nAge: 12 or older. DESCRIPTION:The OC Parks Jr. Ranger Program encourages park guests to explore the outdoor world within OC Parks by developing a sense of belonging\, becoming a part of nature and feeling empowered to be stewards of Orange County’s natural and cultural resources.  \n\n\n\nEarn yourself a William Mason Regional Park Jr. Ranger Badge by completing this Jr. Ranger adventure! We will be learning about what makes an animal invasive and watching the behavior of Mason’s turtles.    \n\n\n\nAge: Designed for 8 to 12 years of age\, but all are welcome to participate.
