My heart is heavy. This month we have lost one of the greats among us. Allan A. Schoenherr passed away suddenly. He respected and protected this land that we love and he taught and mentored many, including me.
In his words, Allan shared how he loved the land:
“We are very fortunate that in the midst of urban sprawl in our small county, we have so many opportunities to get outdoors and experience nature. In Orange County, California, we are doubly blessed in that we have a great range of natural beauty on lands that are available for personal exploration.
Allan was committed to teaching people about the way organisms interact with the environment and with each other because “… natural landscapes are to be celebrated and appreciated.”
