Job Summary
The Trail Ambassador role is a proactive effort to reduce social and environmental impacts in the heavily trafficked area of Alta Laguna Park and Top of the World trailhead in Laguna Beach. The Trail Ambassador will interact with visitors in an educational manner while encouraging proper trail use and behavior. Trail Ambassadors will have access to Laguna Beach City personnel, who will also be patrolling the area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Educate visitors about the park, trails and surrounding areas
- Collect and report on information about visitors and trail conditions
- Pick up litter
- Answer questions relating to trail and park information: provide directions and parking information, suggested trails, information about when the parks are open
- Commitment to a least four shifts per month
- Completion of Laguna Canyon Foundation’s training and orientation
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills; ability to effectively and respectfully interact with diverse audiences as well as city personnel
- Punctuality, flexibility and dependability
- CPR/First Aid certification (which LCF will offer as part of the on-boarding)
- Fingerprinting for background check may be required
- Over 18 years old
- Access to reliable transportation to arrive at shift on time
Compensation
- This program runs from May 1, 2021 – September 6, 2021, weekends and holidays only
- $20/hour; shifts will be 7:00am – 10:00am and three hours at sunset
