Dick Newell

Our hearts go out to Dick Newell’s family as we mourn the passing of a great naturalist.

Dick Newell was the founder of and primary instructor for Orange County Trackers, a wildlife conservation organization. He was a volunteer member of the Irvine Ranch Conservancy Science team, monitoring local wildlife through the use of wilderness cameras county wide for more than a decade. Dick participated in extensive wildlife studies supporting such agencies as US Geological Survey, Cleveland National Forest, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Newport Bay Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy and Audubon, among others.

He taught many of us as Laguna Canyon Foundation not only about animal behavior and tracking skills but how to respect and grow our love for the wilderness.  www.octrackers.com
