Patti is very excited to start working in Laguna Canyon as a Field Educator. Patti recently retired from a 30-year career as an Elementary School Teacher. She spent eight years at Saddleback Unified as a PE Teacher, and twenty two years as a classroom teacher at Santa Ana Unified. So this new job in Laguna will be Education 2.0. Teaching in the Canyon feels like a very natural progression because Patti has been on these trails as a classroom teacher for many years, so now it’s time to try it as a field educator. It is so important to get buy-in from children early on when it comes to protecting our wildlife and natural environment. “The more they learn to love it, the more they will protect it”. Patti grew up in NJ and moved to SoCal 44 years ago. She is married with 2 grown sons and 2 beautiful grands. In her spare time, Patti is an Open Water swimmer and distance runner. She typically can be found at Shaw’s Cove in N. Laguna swimming to Bird Rock, or running along the beautiful Laguna coastline.
