We’re Hiring! – Park Ambassador

Job Summary – Park Ambassador:

The Park Ambassador’s role is a proactive effort to reduce social and environmental impacts in the heavily trafficked area of Alta Laguna Park in Laguna Beach. The Park Ambassador will educate park visitors about proper trail and park behavior in line with Laguna Canyon Foundation’s mission and provide help and resources to visitors as needed. The Park Ambassador will interact with visitors in an educational, not enforcement, manner. Park Ambassadors have no law enforcement authority. This program runs from May 31, 2025 – September 28, 2025, for three hours before sunset on Saturdays and Sundays and possibly some holiday evenings.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Educate visitors about the park, trails, and surrounding area  
  • Collect and report on information about visitors and trail conditions 
  • Pick up litter 
  • Answer questions relating to trail and park information: provide directions and parking information, suggested trails, park rules, and information about when the parks are open  
  • Commitment to at least four 3-hour shifts per month 

Requirements:  

  • Commitment to the vision and mission of Laguna Canyon Foundation. 
  • Strong communication skills; ability to effectively and respectfully interact with diverse audiences as well as city personnel 
  • Punctuality, flexibility, and dependability 
  • Ability to hike up to 3-4 miles on rough terrain in various weather conditions 
  • CPR/First Aid certification (which LCF will offer as a part of onboarding) 
  • Completion of Laguna Canyon Foundation’s training and orientation 
  • Completion of a successful background check 
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required (with medical and religious exemptions as required by law) 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:  

  • Knowledge of local trails – difficulty levels, which trails can be used by bikers, hikers, and/or dog walkers 
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification 
  • Experience with public education 
  • LCF and OC Parks Volunteer Experience and training
