[Laguna Beach, CA, January 16, 2026] If you’re curious about hiking, volunteering, or simply learning about the wild and beautiful landscapes of the South Coast Wilderness, join Laguna Canyon Foundation and Susi Q Senior Center for a welcoming orientation talk that will help you get your bearings both on the trails and in the ecosystem on Tuesday, January 27 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Susi Q Center, 380 Third Street, Laguna Beach. Underground parking is free. All ages are welcome. Registration is required.
Learn from experienced hiker Kathleen Shanfield, a Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer, about how to start your journey into hiking in our local Wilderness Parks! Shanfield leads a variety of Explorers Hikes in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, where she helps participants learn about a variety of hiking skills from how to choose a trail and read the topographic maps at the Nix Nature Center to the names and qualities of some plants and animals of the Coastal Sage Scrub habitat.
“We’re delighted to collaborate with the Susi Q to offer a series of programs about the amazing wilderness that surrounds us,”
Scott Thomas, Laguna Canyon Foundation Executive Director.
Laguna Canyon Foundation will also share information about the various programs they offer as well as volunteer opportunities. Register here.
