[Laguna Beach, CA, May 7, 2026] Wildfires are a fact of life in Orange County. In areas like Laguna Beach, where homes and communities border wild areas, we need to be informed and prepared for them! Come learn with Sr. Director of Conservation Alan Kaufmann from Laguna Canyon Foundation at the Susi Q Senior Center about how fires in wildland areas behave, and how we can all take steps to protect ourselves, our communities, and our precious wildlands. This FREE talk will be hosted at the Susi Q Center, 380 Third Street, Laguna Beach on Tuesday, May 26, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. Registration is required.
We will cover the basics of fire ecology and fire behavior in coastal scrub ecosystems, how these are changing, and measures that communities and individuals can take to protect life, property, and the habitats along the wildland-urban interface and make our communities more resilient.
“We’re delighted to collaborate with the Susi Q to offer a series of programs about the amazing wilderness that surrounds us,”
Scott Thomas, Laguna Canyon Foundation Executive Director.
Laguna Canyon Foundation will also share information about the various programs they offer as well as volunteer opportunities. Register here.
